Happy New Year

Happy New Year

The New Year, gives us chance to reflect on last year and plan for 2019.  The hi-light of each year is always the arrival of the crias. Very sadly one of our cria was not well on birthing.  Jasmine, gave birth to Kindra, very slowly and needed assistance at the end to fully birth. From the start Kindra was not a normal lively cria. She had goats colostrum, plasma and regular vet visits. On xray, she had an infection on her spine making her feel very poorly. We tried to fight this for 6 weeks but had to make the decision to save her from any more suffering to put her to sleep.

RIP Kindra

RIP Kindra

Our other 3 cria from 2018, have been a complete joy.  They are Brunella, Oberon and Torin.

With such a hot Summer and so far a mild Winter, we are always trying to keep one step ahead of what the weather will throw at us. This has included over seeding the grass to ensure it is plentiful and ensuring we have enough shelters for the alpacas, whichever paddock they are in.

Janet is now a BAS Affilitate, which means she can run BAS designed courses, which will be starting this year so if you are interested, please keep an eye on the website.

So, we continue to learn all the time about all things alpaca and have lots to look forward to in 2019.

Happy New Year
