BAS Modules 1 - 4
Who the Workshop is For
Are you interested in alpacas, thinking about having some alpacas, new to alpacas or had alpacas a while and want to learn more about them? This workshop is suitable for complete newbies or owners who would like a refresher and to learn what is current with alpacas at the moment.
About the Workshop Leaders
Janet, a breeder of alpacas since 2008, is a British Alpaca Affiliate Trainer and an active BAS Welfare Committee member. She is qualified to offer all 11 BAS course modules and is trained to BAS Advanced Level. She has attended fibre courses held by Paul Vallely (Australian Alpaca Fibre Testing) and Cameron Holt (International School of Fibres, Australia). As part of her Continuing Professional Development, Janet regularly attends practical workshops on all aspects of alpaca husbandry and handling.
Caroline is a British Alpaca Society Affiliate Trainer and has attended British Alpaca Society training courses up to Advanced Level. She has a B.Sc. from Harper Adams University in Agri-Food with Marketing and Management. She has kept Alpacas since 2012 and now has a herd of 37. She also works with their fibre as a spinner and weaver. In 2018, she and her husband purchased a mini-mill to process alpaca fibre for themselves and other alpaca owners.
Workshops are kept small to ensure attendees have time to get hands-on and ask as many questions as possible. Sessions include PowerPoint presentations, outdoor practicals and getting hands-on with the alpacas.
